Welcome to Visit-the-World's Egypt section ...

Visit Egypt

Egypt is an extraordinary, unforgettable country, with ancient wonders, modern comforts and the timeless majesty of the Nile!

Treasures and relics of past
civilisations abound throughout this fascinating land! From the staggering
height of the Pyramids at Giza, outside Cairo, to the dark depths of Tutankhamun's burial tomb and the fantastic temples at Luxor, Karnak and Abu Simbel, Egypt can boast unparalleled historical monuments and artefacts. Its museums are packed with rare, priceless treasures that remind us of the glories of Ancient Egypt!

The River Nile is the lifeblood of Egypt, and is as important today as it was in the time of the Pharoahs.

Therefore, a wonderful way of seeing the abundance of historic sights in relaxed comfort and great style, is to take a Nile Cruise.  To do so, you fly into Luxor airport, where you will be met and taken to your chosen cruise ship.

The city of Luxor is on the eastern bank of the Nile, about 420 miles south, [that's up-river], of Cairo, the  country's hectic, exciting capital. Luxor is built on the 4000 year old site of the ancient capital, Thebes. The focal point is Luxor Temple with its incredible statues, shrines and obelisks. The immense splendour of Temple of Karnak is also close by, whilst  the Valley of the Queens and the Valley of the Kings -- burial place of  King Tut and countless monarchs --- are just across the Nile on the West Bank. A Nile Cruise takes in all of these fantastic sights , as well as carrying  you up the Nile to visit  more historic temples at Edfu and Kom Ombo. As you travel, you can relax on  your sunlounger up on deck, drifting past the Egyptian landscape and soaking up the way of life of the Nile's riverside dwellers.

Your cruise then takes you to Aswan, one of the most attractive towns in Egypt. Here you can visit one of the wonders of modern Egypt, the Aswan High Dam, built to regulate the damaging flood-waters of the life-giving Nile and to provide Egypt with essential hydro-electricity.

A 7 night Nile Cruise can also be combined with a 7 night stay at a top rate hotel on the Red Sea coast, which is especially famous for snorkelling and scuba diving.

The Red Sea offers some of the world's  most fascinating underwater scenery and is a diver's paradise. Hurghada is the favourite resort here for both divers and sun-seekers. The sea is full of  colourful tropical fish that dart in and out of living coral reefs. Absolutely beautiful!! This is also a great place to haggle with traders in the bazaar area and pick up gold and leather  bargains.

A few miles along the Red Sea coast are the modern purpose-built resorts of El Gouna, to the north of Hurghada and Makadi Bay to the south. They are very clean and popular with visitors from northern Europe, especially in winter, when the Mediterranean has gone a bit too cool for some holidaymakers.

Soma Bay, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Hurghada airport, is the latest purpose-built, resort village on the Red Sea Riviera ...as it is now known!

This coast is growing quickly in popularity as people seek out new places to visit, which have almost guaranteed sunshine.

Speaking of sunshine, the cosmopolitan Sharm El Sheikh, across the Red Sea, on the southern tip of Egypt's Sinai peninsula, is growing very rapidly as a stylish resort, popular with sun-worshippers and scuba divers. It has its own airport and is located between the Sinai Desert and the crystal clear waters of the Red Sea.  It has a very good selection of tastefully designed, modern hotels and a great choice of international restaurants.

In the centre of the resort is Naama Bay with a host of modern facilities, including shops, lively bars and nightclubs.

From Sharm El Sheikh, you can even travel further north by coach to bustling Cairo, and visit Egypt's most famous ancient sights of all ..... the world-famous Sphinx and Pyramids, at Giza, just outside the capital!!

Now they have to be worth seeing!!!

Travel and tourism are one of the main recreation activities of the modern world, both in the United Kingdom and internationally. Travelers in previous times went on pilgrimage or traveled for trade and exploration. Most people would not have the opportunities of long distance travel that we have nowadays.

We can travel by foot, by car, bus, train, airplane, boat, taxi, hovercraft, motorbike, bicycle, quad-bike or whatever. We can go to pretty much anywhere we fancy. Anyone of us can use websites like this one (visit-the-world.com) to book our flights and our accommodation, even booking a car can all be done on-line in a matter of minutes.

International travel is a favourite pastime for many people. Literally millions of us fly and cruise to exotic destinations for a break and to get a new angle on the world. Some people take up to four foreign holidays a year. Whilst there are endless holidays and adventures to be enjoyed abroad there are also many wonderful sights and experiences available in the UK.

Why not take a trip of a lifetime to the destination of your choice and write an internet blog (weblog) of your travel experiences. You can also post your holiday photos on your blog and share them with friends, family and other worldwide web users. If you have a mini video camera you could make a holiday video telling the story of your travel adventures. You could put this onto a DVD and also post it online.

The world is full of variety and there is no end to the possible holdays or journeys that are available. There is a complete range of choice for every traveller. All that we have to do is choose where we want to go and what we want to do and enjoy our holiday!

Ticket sales are handled by Holiday Express (ABTA No. E8585) retail agents for ATOL holders.
