Jumeirah Islands is not actually out at sea, as the name might suggest. It has been developed on land immediately inland of Dubai Marina and close to Palm Jumeirah.

In fact, Jumeirah Islands is only separated from Dubai Marina by the E11 road from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, also known as Sheikh Zayed Road.

One turns off interchanges 5 and 6 on Sheikh Zayed Road to access the development.

The name Jumeirah Islands describes the unique design and layout of this beautiful 5-star residential complex, which is one of Nakheel's flagship developments.

Nakheel Properties is the leading development company in Dubai, responsible for many landmark architectural projects, such as the nearby Jumeirah Lake Towers and Palm Jumeirah.

Jumeirah Islands consists of a self-contained complex of 50 small islands, which are known as clusters. All sit in a man-made sea-water lake, which is so large that the whole complex has a land to water ratio of 23 to 77.

The salt water, pumped in from the sea, is recycled on a daily basis. The salinity prevents larvae and insects from breeding.

The islands or clusters are spread across an area of 300 hectares, or 740 acres, in all.

Of the 50 clusters, 46 are residential.

Each residential cluster consists of sixteen individually styled villas, totalling 736 villas in all, each with its own swimming pool and maid's room.

The villas vary from 5101 square feet to 7200 sq feet in size.

The villas have been built in a mix of four superb architectural styles, known as Oasis, Islamic, European and Mediterranean. They are all wonderfully designed to a very high standard.

Jumeirah Islands also has a supermarket, a gymnasium, restaurants and other leisure facilities, to add to the community ethos of the complex.

To the east is the Emirates Hills residential development, with its Montgomerie Golf Course, whilst to the west lie Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali Village.
